Derma Roller for Hair Growth — Safety & Use Instructions
Before You Begin
- For scalp use targeting thinning or bald spots, a 0.5mm–1.5mm needle size is commonly used; if you're new to microneedling, start on the shorter end (0.5mm) to gauge your scalp's sensitivity.
- Do a patch test on a small area of the scalp 24 hours before full use to check for irritation.
- Do not use on a scalp with active infection, open sores, psoriasis or eczema flare-ups, sunburn, or recent chemical treatments (relaxers, color, keratin) within 2 weeks.
- Avoid use if pregnant, nursing, on blood thinners, or if you have a bleeding disorder — consult a physician first.
- This product supports scalp stimulation and product absorption; it is not a guaranteed treatment for hair loss and does not replace medical diagnosis or treatment of underlying hair loss conditions (e.g., alopecia, hormonal or autoimmune causes).
Preparing the Scalp
- Wash hair and scalp with a clarifying or gentle shampoo to remove buildup, oil, and product residue.
- Disinfect the derma roller by soaking the needle head in 70% isopropyl alcohol for 5–10 minutes before each use.
- Section hair to expose the scalp in the thinning or targeted area, and ensure the scalp is completely dry before rolling.
How to Use
- Focus on the thinning or bald area, rolling in slow, light-to-medium pressure passes.
- Roll vertically, horizontally, and diagonally, 4–6 times in each direction, overlapping sections slightly for even coverage.
- Do not press hard or roll aggressively — the goal is light micro-stimulation, not visible bleeding or trauma.
- Limit use to 1–2 times per week, with at least 48–72 hours between sessions to allow the scalp to recover.
Aftercare
- Apply a hair growth serum, scalp oil, or leave-in treatment immediately after rolling to maximize absorption while pores are open.
- Avoid direct sun exposure on the scalp for 24 hours; wear a hat if going outside.
- Skip harsh scalp treatments, tight hairstyles, hot tools, or sweat-heavy workouts for 24 hours post-use.
- Mild tingling, warmth, or light redness on the scalp is normal for a few hours; persistent pain, scabbing, or excessive shedding is not — discontinue use and consult a dermatologist or trichologist if this occurs.
Roller Maintenance
- Clean the roller with alcohol before and after every session.
- Replace the roller every 3–6 months, or sooner if needles look bent, dull, or damaged — dull needles increase risk of scalp irritation and infection.
- Store in a clean, dry, closed case between uses.
Important Note
Results vary by individual and by the underlying cause of thinning or hair loss. This product is intended to support healthy scalp stimulation as part of a hair care routine. If you're experiencing significant or sudden hair loss, please consult a dermatologist or trichologist to rule out underlying medical causes before beginning any at-home treatment.
